US Senate recognizes Trump’s impeachment as constitutional

The Senate of the US Congress on Tuesday voted that the impeachment procedure, which was announced to the former President of the country, Donald Trump, does not contradict the Constitution.

According to the vote, 56 senators agreed that the impeachment procedure did not contradict the US Constitution, with 44 legislators voted against. It is worth noting that the six senators who agreed to the constitutionality of impeachment are from the Republican Party.

According to the leading American media, the passed vote in the Senate does not mean that the Republicans will subsequently vote for impeachment, which requires 67 senatorial votes. Experts are of the opinion that the former US president will be acquitted again.

The reason for the impeachment of former US President Donald Trump was the riots in Washington, which took place on January 6 near the Capitol building. Supporters of the former American leader stormed the Congress building in an attempt to prevent the adoption of the results of the presidential election, which took place on November 3 last year. As a result of the riots, five people were killed for various reasons.
