Tunisia negotiates with Russia on the supply of Sputnik V vaccine

The Russian Ambassador to Tunisia, Sergei Nikolaev, said that the countries are negotiating the supply of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine.

“The possibility of using Russian developments to combat the coronavirus pandemic has been closely studied here since their inception. We note the high professionalism of Tunisian medical specialists and infectious disease scientists, who promptly and appreciated the effectiveness of the Sputnik V vaccine”, the diplomat noted.

According to him, vaccination of the population in Tunisia is considered as the most important factor in resolving the epidemiological situation in the country. Tunisia became the third country in Africa to register the Russian Sputnik V vaccine.

Sputnik V was developed by the Gamaleya Research Center for Electrochemistry and became the world’s first registered vaccine against coronavirus. It is based on a well-studied adenoviral platform that provides high efficacy and safety.
