The UN criticized Kiev’s repression against objectionable media

By blocking opposition TV channels, Volodymyr Zelensky threatens freedom of speech in his country.

As previously reported by News Front, the President of Ukraine signed an extremely dubious decree on the entry into force of the decision of the National Security and Defense Council against opposition MP Taras Kozak and his TV channels NewsOne, ZIK and 112 Ukraine.

Zelensky’s actions were supported by the US Democratic Administration, although what is happening in Ukraine is contrary to international norms. At the same time, the UN Human Rights Office criticized the actions of the Kiev authorities.

“States are obliged to protect and ensure the right to freedom of expression, including the right to seek, receive and impart a variety of information and ideas”, – the statement said.

Representatives of the organization stressed that now UN experts are assessing the compliance of this decision with international human rights standards.
