Moscow proposed to update the system of Russian-Belarusian integration

The parties do not intend to delay the integration work, because Moscow and Minsk will sign a program for deepening integration within the framework of the Union State after the “modernization” of methods.

Russia and Belarus signed an agreement on the creation of the Union State back in 1999, and by the twentieth anniversary of the existence of the agreement – in December 2019 – it was proposed to approve a program for deepening integration. Although the parties set up a working group, the program has not yet been adopted.

Despite this, the program is still relevant, the Russian Ambassador to Belarus Dmitry Mezentsev is sure.

“I think the parties do not want to put aside the backlog on the integration work, after modernizing which it is reasonable to talk about a milestone – without getting ahead of ourselves – going to sign the program”, – the diplomat said in a comment for RIA Novosti.

He also announced that work should continue on sectoral integration roadmaps.

“The Russian side is open to such interaction, the responsibility lies with the Belarusian partners”, – Mezentsev stated.
