Iran to start vaccination with Sputnik V ahead of schedule

Iran’s Minister of Health and Medical Education Saeed Namaki said that the supply of the Russian drug against the coronavirus Sputnik V enables the start of vaccination of the population earlier than planned

“Thanks to the import of a batch of Russian Sputnik V, vaccination against the coronavirus will start in Iran this coming Tuesday, February 9”, –  Namaki said.

The minister stressed that “priority will be given to employees of intensive care units in Iranian polyclinics”.
Earlier it was reported that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced the start of vaccination until February 18. The first batch of Russian vaccine against Sputnik V coronavirus was delivered to the Iranian capital on 4 February.
