State Department threatens China with sanctions for violating US-imposed rules

Washington intends to respond harshly to China’s actions that are inconsistent with the international order that the US established after World War II

China is determined to deprive the US of leadership on the world stage, so Tony Blinken, the new head of the US State Department, has threatened his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi with punitive measures.

“The US will work with allies and partners to defend our shared values and interests to hold the PRC accountable for undermining the rules-based international order”, –  said Blinken, as quoted by the State Department press office.

The US diplomat also said Beijing’s policies are allegedly causing escalation of tensions in the Indo-Pacific region. Blinken also made it clear that the US would continue to interfere in Hong Kong’s affairs.
