French President Emmanuel Macron supports the position of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who intends to complete the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline
Earlier, the German chancellor said she would discuss Nord Stream 2 with new US president Joe Biden as the construction of the pipeline is crucial for Germany, which is completing the transition from coal and nuclear power to renewables.
“I share what Madam Chancellor said. Our priority in Europe is to secure the energy transition in line with our commitments to reduce CO2 emissions. Within this framework, gas is part of the energy of this transition”, – Macron said after the videoconference with Merkel.
He stressed that “despite all the comments you can see, our positions are coordinated, the decision has been taken”.
