However, according to the Polish expert, the effectiveness of U.S. sanctions against the Nord Stream-2 pipeline can by no means be denied
According to Glavred, Szymon Kardasz, an expert at the Center for Eastern Studies (Poland), assessed the chances of finally stopping the completion of the Nord Stream-2 pipeline.
“I cannot say with absolute certainty that Nord Stream-2 will be completed, but my intuitive prognosis is unchanged – everything is heading towards the end of the project”, – Kardasz said.
In his opinion, German politicians and businessmen are increasingly expressing their commitment to the project.
The expert also said that permanent delays with the completion of construction are not a big problem for the Russian Federation as Gazprom has a transit agreement with Ukraine until 2024 and alternative routes for gas supplies. At the same time, Kardash acknowledged the effectiveness of US sanctions against the pipeline, but urged not to overestimate them.
“What else needs to happen for Germany to change its stance? I really don’t know, since after all these twists and turns, the project is still viable”, – the expert concluded.
