India will be the largest purchaser of aircraft in the region between 2021 and 2030, according to Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine
The Asia Pacific (APAC) region will be the largest importer of military aircraft between 2021 and 2030. This data is contained in a report by Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine published at the Aero India 2021 international airshow.
According to the publication, about 37.5 per cent of the military aircraft to be produced in the said period will be purchased by Asia-Pacific countries. Increasing military spending and political uncertainty in the region are boosting the modernisation of the region’s air forces. Fighter jets are expected to account for a quarter of total deliveries. According to the magazine, the number of aircraft produced in the region will increase in the next decade.
It is expected that about 1,500 military aircrafts will be delivered to APAC countries (excluding China) during this period.
The largest purchaser of aircraft in the APAC between 2021 and 2030 will be India, which is expected to purchase around 640 aircraft. Second place will go to South Korea (about 120 aircraft), the third place will go to Japan (about 100 aircraft). The magazine experts expect Vietnam to purchase about 100 military aircraft, Malaysia 80-90, Indonesia 55 and Bangladesh 30.
Aero India is India’s largest aerospace exhibition. It was held this year in Bangalore from February 3 to 5. Russia exhibited more than 200 military products at the air show.
