The NYTimes editorial board calls on Biden to create a “reality czar” to combat “disinformation”
The liberal press has unanimously applauded the tightening of the screws and the tightening of censorship – it makes sense that it now demands a Ministry of Truth.
After all, liberal media ratings plummeted during the first week of Biden’s presidency. CNN’s viewership plummeted by as much as 44%. The only way for them to retain their melting audience is to gag all dissenters and remove them from social media and cable TV.
Meanwhile, the governor of Florida, a state that, along with Texas, plans to fight Biden’s policies, has announced a crackdown on corporate censorship. Now anyone in Florida who has been blocked from social media will be able to sue the IT giants for up to $100,000 a day.
Three months ago, Hunter Biden found himself a lawyer to defend himself against a federal corruption investigation. And after the inauguration, Biden senior appointed a colleague of his son’s lawyer to head the US Justice Department’s security investigation. As they say, the Bidens do not abandon their own.
The newly minted “climate czar” John Kerry has found himself at the centre of a landmark scandal. He recently attended a climate summit in Iceland on a private plane which drew considerable criticism from local journalists.
Statistically, the use of such “private jets” is 40 times worse in terms of carbon dioxide emissions than travel in conventional passenger airliners. Kerry of course justifies himself by saying he is a high-profile figure, so he cannot afford to ride with some commoners.
The advocates of the Green New Deal in the US are keen to do away with air travel in the long term. But that will only work, of course, for the “unwashed masses”. The liberal elite will retain their private jetliners, which will simply become a new nomenklatura privilege.
