Kedmi: West will not abandon sanctions policy against Russia

Former head of the Israeli service Nativ Yakov Kedmi believes that Russia should not expect the West to lift sanctions against Russia, reports PolitPuzal

“The collective West is pursuing a global goal of weakening Russia as a state and slowing its development. The Americans and Europeans will use any occasions and pretexts to put pressure on Moscow”, –  the expert noted.

In his opinion, Russia, and before that, the Soviet Union, was almost always under sanction pressure from the West. The only exception was the World War II period, because the victory over Nazism was impossible without the USSR.

“It’s time to get used to it, this is the world you live in. It is a world that is trying to strangle you and end your existence. It was like that 300 and 400 years ago”, –  Kedmi stressed.

He gave the example of the situation around Russia’s Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine which is not allowed into the West on trumped-up pretexts. However, this policy is not always effective. The Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which has come under US sanctions, is still on track and will soon be operational.
