The official representative of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Belarus, Anzhelika Kurchak, said that the agency is preparing a package of documents for recognizing the flag as extremist.
According to the Belarusian media, the prosecutor’s office was contacted by a “group of concerned citizens” who are sure that the white-red-white flag was created to “incite hostility and hatred in the Belarusian society”.
“Taking into account the work carried out earlier by the Prosecutor General’s Office to improve the legislation on countering extremism, we are currently preparing a package of documents on the recognition of the white-red-white flag and other symbols as extremist”, – Kurchak said.
