Slovakia wants to have good relations with Russia. This was announced on January 28 by the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Ivan Korchok.
According to the head of the Slovak Foreign Ministry, someone is trying to manipulate public opinion by publishing reports about the allegedly planned deployment of foreign troops in the republic. The ministry’s views on the development of ties with the United States and Russia, which were outlined in the republic’s new security strategy, aroused especially heated discussions. In this regard, Korchok noted that the country’s government is not inclined to Russophobia, since Slovakia wants to have good relations with the Russian Federation.
In addition, the head of the Slovak Foreign Ministry called the release of inappropriate news “the result of freedom and the fact that we are a democratic country”. According to him, despite the fact that a world based on democratic principles is not ideal, belonging to it is the only way to security and prosperity in Slovakia.
We will remind, on January 29, the parliament of Slovakia approved a document prepared by the government that defines the security strategy of the republic. It views Russia as an important partner in countering international threats and searching for answers to challenges arising in the field of global security.
