A source told the Canadian edition of the Star that the country’s intelligence agencies have been studying extremist groups in Canada for the past several months to determine whether they meet the legal threshold for recognition as terrorist organizations.
Assigning terrorist group status to organizations would not only affect their image. It would also allow financial institutions to freeze the assets of such organisations and authorise the police to seize their property. Knowingly participating in or facilitating the activities of an organisation would also be considered a violation of the law
