A Latvian political scientist described in detail what US intervention in Russia would be like

First of all, the State Department will want to “get involved” in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections in Russia

Joe Biden took over the White House on January 20, succeeding US President Donald Trump. He has already made it clear that he intends to continue his anti-Russian policy. In particular, the Democrats will try to prevent close cooperation between Russia and China, according to Armands Gutmanis, a Latvian political expert.

“There will be more pressure on Russia”, –  he said on the air of Radio Baltkom. – “It is logical, because it is necessary to prevent close strategic cooperation between Russia and China”.

The political scientist also reminded that in 2021 Russians will elect State Duma deputies and in 2024 – the President. US democrats, who falsely accused Russia of interfering in the US presidential election, will surely want to use the electoral processes to destabilize the situation in Russia.

“Both this year and in another couple of years there are elections in Russia. I think America will not stand aside and will actively participate”, –  Gutmanis continued. – “The ideas of destabilisation in Russia have not dried up. The geopolitical situation shows that you need to put pressure on China. That’s actually been said openly, a lot of American analysts now in important positions in the administration have said so. Neither Republicans nor Democrats have questioned this approach. You can argue about speed and effectiveness for a long time, but the pressure on Russia is unlikely to diminish.”
