Police in Amsterdam and Eindhoven violently disperse demonstrations

Law enforcement agencies in the Netherlands used water cannons to disperse demonstrations in Amsterdam and Eindhoven against government-imposed measures in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus

 

This was reported by the Dutch Broadcasting Corporation.

According to the corporation, police also used tear gas in Eindhoven after a water cannon had its wheel punctured. Dozens of people were detained during the actions.

After the demonstrations were broken up, shops in Eindhoven were vandalised and in Amsterdam urns and rubbish bins were set on fire. Hundreds of people took part in the events banned by the authorities.
