The German minister of environmental protection and nuclear safety stressed that the decision on the construction was taken many years ago and that the project is almost completed and has received the necessary permits
According to Korrespondent, in an interview with RND, Minister of Environmental Protection and Nuclear Safety of Germany Svenja Schulze assessed the consequences of stopping the construction of the Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream-2.
“If we were to stop the project now, we would cause enough harm by questioning the reliability of the decisions made on the basis of the principles of the rule of law”, – the minister said.
In this case, the German side would face legal action, Schulze stressed. The minister stressed that Germany has almost no natural gas reserves of its own, so it is dependent on imports of this raw material before it can fully secure its supply from renewable sources.
