US propagandists severely beaten in Kiev

A group of unknown assailants attacked employees of the Ukrainian office of US-funded propaganda radio Svoboda

The incident took place last night in the Pechersk district of Kiev on Konovalets Street, next to the Kiev University of Culture and Arts.

According to the Strana weekly, citing its own sources in the law-enforcement agencies, the victims of the attack were Maryan Kushnir, Denys Tymoshenko and Oleksandr Demchenko.

There were six attackers. Radio Liberty staff claim that they were punched and kicked in the head and torso. The hospital diagnosed the victims with bruises and abrasions, and suspected closed head injuries.

Only Tymoshenko and Demchenko have so far filed statements with the police. They believe that the incident is not related to their activities and that it happened on domestic grounds.
