US government operations using unmanned aerial vehicles concern the collection and storage of confidential information, the document says.
As reported by TASS, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday limiting government purchases of unmanned aerial vehicles from adversary countries, to which the current administration includes Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.
“Unmanned aerial vehicles are used by our law enforcement agencies and to provide assistance in natural disasters. The use of vehicles manufactured by our opponents threatens national and economic security”, – the text of the document, which was distributed by the White House press service, says.
“The US government operations using unmanned aerial vehicles concern the collection and storage of confidential information. It is US policy to prevent taxpayer funds from being used to purchase devices that pose unacceptable risks, or software, vital electronic components of devices manufactured by foreign opponents. The policy is to encourage the use of locally made devices”.
The term “foreign adversary” refers to the DPRK, Iran, China, Russia, or, as the Department of Commerce defines, any other country, territory, or nongovernmental organization that is involved in long-term patterns of activity that are unfavorable to US national and economic security.
