WP: US demanded to remove Telegram from Apple app store

The American non-profit organization Coalition for a Safer Web has filed a lawsuit demanding that Apple remove the Telegram messenger from its app store. The Washington Post newspaper reports.

The lawsuit was filed in the state of California. Representatives of the organization claim that the Telegram leadership did not take “sufficient restrictive measures against users who disseminated messages of an extremist nature and calls for violence in connection with the riots near the US Congress on January 6”.

“Telegram itself stands out from the crowd as a super-distributor, even in comparison with Parler [a microblogging service popular among supporters of the current US President Donald Trump – approx.]”, – said the head of the NGO Mark Ginsberg.

Earlier, the social network Twitter permanently blocked the account of Donald Trump “due to fears that he could provoke a riot”. Facebook and Instagram have banned the American president from posting until his term expires.
