Mass vaccination against coronavirus began in Russia

On January 18, mass vaccination of all interested categories of the population started in Russia. Russians can be vaccinated against coronavirus for free with one of two registered vaccines: Sputnik V or Epivakkorona.

Vaccination against coronavirus in Russia began on December 10, 2020: first of all, doctors, teachers, people with chronic diseases and some other categories of citizens received the opportunity to get vaccinated.

In January, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the transition to mass vaccination of citizens. Profile Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said that everything was ready for mass vaccination. More than 2 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine will go into civilian circulation by the end of January. Golikova also noted that Russia has absolutely all the resources for free vaccination of the population.

Two vaccines against coronavirus infection have been registered in Russia: Sputnik V, developed by the Gamaleya Institute, and Epivakkorona, developed by the Vector Scientific Center.
