Backed down: Sandu calls principles of the settlement of Transnistria

Moldovan President Maia Sandu named the main principles for resolving the situation in Transnistria. This was reported by the Telegram channel Choice of Moldova.

“The plan for the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict should be general. There cannot be a plan of one party, or of another party. This is too serious a question”, – Sandu said.

Maya Sandu also emphasized the need for “political consensus”, which had not previously been voiced in her statements.

“We have points of support in order to work out a solution. Firstly, it is a peaceful settlement of the conflict, political and diplomatic. Secondly, it is the preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders”, – the President said.

It is obvious that Maia Sandu backed down: earlier she announced her intention to completely withdraw the Russian peacekeepers from the territory of Transnistria and opposed the “federalization of Moldova”, and now she spoke of “political consensus”.
