Reuters reports that more than a dozen states have mobilised National Guard forces to disperse conservative demonstrators. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, for its part, warns of a possible wave of violence, as it was for Sunday that right-wing groups in America were preparing their rallies in all the states.
Fearing an assault on local legislatures, as has recently happened in Washington, state authorities are building barriers, Texas and Kentucky have closed their capitals to entry altogether.
In Washington, only the city centre is blocked, where thousands of National Guard soldiers have already taken up positions.
