US police have detained a man who attempted to enter the secure grounds of the Capitol
CNN reports that he had a gun on him.
The detainee came to Washington from the state of Virginia.
Law enforcement have reportedly already identified the intruder, Wesley Alan Beeler. He attempted to enter the closed Capitol grounds with a gun and ammunition. The man intended to pass through the checkpoint by showing a fake pass.
