A resident of Georgia, 53-year-old Christopher Stanton Georgia, who was detained after the storming of the Capitol, committed suicide, reported NBC 11Alive and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper, which cited the opinion of forensic experts.
The man’s body was found in the basement of his home in Alpharetta on January 9, three days after the riots in Washington. He died of a gunshot wound to the chest, Fulton County medical examiners said. Two rifles were found in the house.
On the same day, January 9, a Capitol police officer, 51-year-old Howard Liebengood, who participated in the suppression of the assault, committed suicide.
