US Congress plans to vote to impeach Trump on January 13

This was discussed in a telephone conversation with the leader of the Democrats in the House of Representatives Steny Hoyer.

According to CNN, citing its own sources, the US House of Representatives will vote on Congressman Jamie Raskin’s proposal to remove Trump in accordance with the 25th Amendment to the Constitution (inability to exercise powers for health reasons), after which Congressmen will vote for articles of impeachment.

“Earlier, the Democratic majority in the House of Representatives submitted a resolution to impeach Trump. Democrats accused the president of inciting a riot because of the storming of the Capitol by his supporters, which killed 5 people”, – the report said.

Earlier, the House of Representatives had already impeached Trump on December 18, 2019 – the case concerned the order of the US President to suspend military aid to Ukraine and his attempts to force Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to facilitate the opening of a criminal case against Hunter Biden, the son of Trump’s main rival in the presidential election, Joe Biden. Then the Republican majority in the Senate refused to support the impeachment announced by the House of Representatives.
