In particular, the company banned the publication of requirements for the revision of the election results and announced that the social network security officers would remove messages from its platform containing calls to “stop theft”.
According to TASS, Facebook is taking additional measures to combat misinformation and calls for violence before and after the inauguration of US President-elect Joseph Biden, which will take place on January 20. The corresponding statement was published on Monday on the company’s website.
“In particular, the social network’s security personnel will remove messages from its platform that urge “stop the steal”. Similar measures will be applied to the social network Instagram, which is also owned by Facebook. According to representatives of the company, the corresponding appeal is used in social networks by supporters of the current American leader, Republican Donald Trump. They insist that violations were committed during the voting and processing of ballots in the presidential elections, which allegedly led to the fact that the victory was stolen from the Republican”, – the statement says.
In addition, from the moment the Democrat took office, all messages questioning the legitimacy of the results of the presidential elections in the United States will be marked by the Facebook management that “the current president of the country is Joe Biden”. However, any political advertising will be banned on Facebook’s social networks.
