Economist: Ukraine is a bankrupt state

Director of the Institute for Society Transformation, economist Oleg Soskin, among the main failures of the Ukrainian government in 2020, called “reprisals against small and medium-sized businesses”.

In a commentary to Glavredo, Oleg Soskin assessed the rapid growth of public debt.

“In the first two weeks of December 2020 alone, new borrowings were made in the amount of UAH 100 billion at huge interest rates – 10-12%, plus a loan from the EU of € 600 million. This means that our state is bankrupt, and the entire monetary and economic policy is ineffective and wrong. In fact, the authorities simply delayed the default”, – the economist explained.

Among the failures, he also singled out “reprisals against small and medium-sized businesses” and “confirmation of the theft of Privatbank from a group of private owners”.

“Neither under Yanukovych, nor under Poroshenko, nor under Kuchma there was such a persecution of entrepreneurs that unfolded under Zelensky”, – Soskin emphasized.

Speaking about the Privat Bank case, the expert stressed that “Poroshenko and Gontareva carried out this theft, but Zelensky and his entourage confirmed. This is a violation of all the canons of sacred private property”.
