Melania Trump sharply condemned the storming of the Capitol

The wife of Republican incumbent US President Donald Trump, Melania, on Monday strongly condemned the storming of the Capitol in Washington on January 6.

“Have no doubt, I certainly condemn the violence that occurred at our nation’s Capitol. Violence is always unacceptable”, –  the US First Lady said.

The wife of the American leader also expressed disappointment that “foul gossip, unfounded personal attacks and distorted false accusations” have started around these tragic events, including in her direction.

“I implore people to stop the brutality, never to draw conclusions based on a person’s skin colour and not to use differences in political ideologies as a reason for aggression and anger”, –  the First Lady urged. She extended her condolences to the families of the victims of the riots.

Last week supporters of the acting head of state stormed the US Congress building to prevent the results of the November 3 presidential election, which was won by Democrat Joseph Biden, from being approved in the country. During the rioting in Washington, Capitol Police shot and killed a demonstrator. A total of five people were killed.

Biden’s inauguration is scheduled for 20 January.
