The New York Post reports that supporters of US President Donald Trump are leaving social networking site Twitter en masse after the US president’s account was blocked
The exodus of Trump supporters began the same day the social network blocked his account. As the publication notes, it is still unclear how many users the social network has lost, but alternative communication platforms have recorded an unprecedented influx of users.
Thus, one of the alternative social networks, Parler, experienced a failure a few hours after the blocking of Trump’s account due to too high an influx of users. It is noted that this social network had been popular among American conservatives before, recording an activity of about 2 million active users every day in October 2020.
Another social network, Gab, recorded 10,000 new users every hour during Saturday, January 9.
Fans of the American president are considering Telegram as another alternative to the social network. One Trump supporter, prominent lawyer Sydney Powell, whose account has also been blocked by Twitter, has called for a switch to Telegram or other social networks
