The coming weeks of winter will be an ordeal for Germany and the rest of Europe
Such a statement was made by German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Saturday, January 9, during the traditional Saturday video address.
“This is the second dangerous wave of the pandemic that our country and many European countries are experiencing. The next weeks of winter are likely to be the most severe phase of the pandemic”, – Merkel said.
Although the chancellor was unable to assess the impact of the holidays in terms of the spread of the virus, she said authorities would soon be working to reduce the number of new cases to 50 per 100,000 population per week.
