More than 47 thousand refugees returned to Nagorno-Karabakh

The servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent ensure the safe return of citizens to their places of permanent residence, provide humanitarian assistance, and restore civilian infrastructure.

According to Interfax, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that in Nagorno-Karabakh, Russian peacekeepers accompanied another convoy with refugees, 181 people were delivered by buses from Yerevan to Stepanakert.

“In total, 47 834 refugees have already returned to their places of permanent residence in Karabakh”, – the ministry notes. “Round-the-clock monitoring of the situation and control over the observance of the ceasefire at twenty-three observation posts are being conducted”.

A peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation is deployed to control the ceasefire in Karabakh. It is based on the units of the 15th separate motorized rifle brigade (peacekeeping) of the Central Military District.
