The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, part of the Iranian armed forces) has displayed an underground missile base on the coast of the Persian Gulf, according to Sepah News, affiliated with the IRGC.
According to the report, the ceremony was attended by the commander-in-chief of the IRGC, Hossein Salami, as well as the commander of the IRGC naval forces, Alireza Tangsiri, to which the “strategic” base belongs.
According to Salami, the complex contains high-precision missiles with “very high destructive power” with a range of “hundreds of kilometers”, capable of overcoming electronic protection.
The message comes amid escalations between the US and Iran and speculation in the press that the outgoing Donald Trump administration could strike Iran before the expiration of its term in office on January 20.
The acting US Defense Secretary Chris Miller said earlier that the US, after Iran’s threats, left the Nimitz aircraft carrier in the region, which was planned to be withdrawn from there.
In Iran, in the light of the anniversary of the death of General Qasem Soleimani, anti-American rhetoric has intensified and warnings to the United States in case of an attack have been increasingly heard. So, according to the Tasnim agency, the adviser to the supreme leader of Iran, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, urged the United States to avoid mistakes, saying that the Iranian military is capable of sinking American aircraft carriers.
