A new attempt to impeach US President Donald Trump, Republican, may be made in the middle of next week. This statement was made on Friday by the Deputy Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Catherine Clarke, who is a member of the Democratic Party.
“It will be, you know, already in the middle of next week”, – the legislator predicted, commenting on the air of the CNN television company on the timing of the possible start of the impeachment procedure for the head of the US administration.
At the same time, Clarke expressed the opinion that Democrats in the lower house of Congress “are able to act very quickly”. Members of Congress in this situation “cannot hide behind the rules of procedure”, said the deputy head of the Democratic majority in the House of Representatives.
“Now is the time to act”, – she says. “
This is a crisis of our constitution and our democracy”.
In Clarke’s view, “Donald Trump needs to be removed from office”.
“And we will act using all available tools to ensure that this happens – in order to protect our democracy”, – the legislator promised.
She drew attention to the fact that, according to the American press, US Vice President Michael Pence is not going to attempt to take advantage of the 25th Amendment to the Basic Law to remove Trump from power on the basis of what the Democrats say is the incapacity of the head of state.
“Then we will move forward with impeachment to do just that”, – Clarke said.
