German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier condemned the events in Washington, called them “the result of a lie”, and expressed confidence that American democracy will overcome all difficulties.
It is “the result of lies and more lies, division and disrespect for democracy, hatred and persecution at the highest level”, he said.
“I am sure that American democracy is stronger than hatred, and democratic institutions have more power than lies and persecution”, – added the head of the FRG.
According to him, Germany is determined to cooperate with the elected US leadership.
