Germany does not accept US extraterritorial sanctions on Nord Stream-2

On January 1, the United States entered into force the provisions of the defense budget, which includes the expansion of sanctions against the Nord Stream-2 and Turkish Stream gas pipelines.

As reported by TASS, on Wednesday at a briefing in Berlin, the deputy official representative of the German Cabinet of Ministers Ulrike Demmer said that the German authorities continue to consider Nord Stream-2 an economic project and do not accept US extraterritorial sanctions.

“Nord Stream-2 is an economic project”, – she said, adding that Berlin’s attitude towards the construction of the pipeline remains the same.

According to her, the position has not changed in relation to the extraterritorial sanctions of the United States, which are considered by the FRG to be contrary to international law.
