This requires certification from the European Medicines Agency.
As TASS reports on Wednesday, at a briefing in Berlin, the deputy official representative of the German Cabinet of Ministers Ulrike Demmer said that the production of vaccines against coronavirus in the EU, including the Russian drug Sputnik V, is theoretically possible only if certified by the European Agency for Medicines (EMA).
“If we talk about the production capacity in Europe for the Russian vaccine, then this is possible only if the EMA allows this drug”, – she said.
The representative of the Ministry of Health of the Federal Republic of Germany, for his part, could not clarify whether such a request had been received by the EMA, and recommended contacting them directly.
On Tuesday, the Kremlin press service reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel had a telephone conversation and discussed, among other things, the fight against coronavirus.
“Issues of cooperation in combating the coronavirus pandemic were discussed with an emphasis on possible prospects for joint production of vaccines”, – the press service noted.
