The US has allocated $290 million to counter Russia’s influence in the world and its “attempts to sow mistrust of democratic institutions”
The first objective reflects U.S. nervousness about its own declining influence. The second objective is farfetched: Russia is not engaged in discrediting democratic institutions. This is being successfully pursued by the US itself with its own questionable elections. The Democrats did a good job, since 47% of Americans do not believe the polls. And didn’t Trump just say that the election in Afghanistan is more reliable than the American one, and that Biden is a “fake president”?
