Coronavirus vaccine fraud reported in Europe

There are already bogus vaccine advertisements on the Web.

According to DW, the head of Europol, Catherine de Boll, said that in connection with the start of mass vaccination against coronavirus in the EU, there is a real danger that criminals will try to take advantage of the huge demand.

According to de Boll, advertisements for the sale of the vaccine have already appeared on social networks. However, these ads are published by scammers, the head of Europol stressed. Those who responded to such offers will either not receive anything at all after payment, or they will be sent a fake, which could result in serious health consequences, Catherine de Boll warned.

In turn, law enforcement officers should be prepared for attempts to steal the vaccine against coronavirus, the head of Europol said.

“During the first lockdown, for example, gangs attacked vehicles carrying protective masks. Now such a danger exists with the vaccine”, – she stressed.

Europol has identified locations where the likelihood of such crimes is highest. In addition, the police departments of European countries intend to cooperate with each other to prevent the theft of the vaccine.
