Mayor John Cooper said at a press briefing on Friday that preliminary information points to a bomb explosion in Nashville, Tennessee, TASS reports.
“Initial reports indicate that this was a deliberate bombing in our city”, – he said.
According to the mayor, the incident was aimed at “causing fear and horror at this time of hope”.
“We will not rest until those responsible for this outrageous and cowardly attack are brought to justice”, – Cooper said, adding that all three hospitalized following the blast “are in stable condition”.
Earlier, the Nashville police said on Twitter that at 06:30 (15:30 Moscow time) on Friday, a van exploded in the city center. Three people were injured, they were taken to hospital, nothing threatens their lives. The police noted that the incident occurred as a result of deliberate actions. According to police, shortly before the incident, warnings of an explosion and the need to evacuate nearby people were heard from the van.
