According to the US president, he secured their victory in the Senate election with his support and they responded with no counter effort to support him
Acting US President Donald Trump has said he will never forget how a number of Republican senators, including Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, sat idly by after the country’s election without trying to help him challenge the results.
According to Trump, he has essentially ensured they win the US Senate elections in their states with his support for their candidacies, and they have made no counter effort to support him in return. “I saved at least eight Republican senators, including Mitch, from defeat in the last rigged (for president) election. Now they (almost all of them) sit on the sidelines and watch me fight a dishonest and cruel enemy – the radical left-wing Democrats. I will never forget that!” – he wrote on his Twitter page on Thursday.
The US election was held on 3 November. On 14 December, the electoral college approved the results of the vote, according to which Democrat Joseph Biden would become the new head of state. McConnell congratulated Biden on his victory in the presidential election following the panel’s vote.
Trump did not concede defeat and went to the courts to demand a recount in a number of states. However, the White House’s lawyers were unsuccessful and their claims were rejected by the courts, including the US Supreme Court.
