The account of the sanatorium “Belarus”, which is located in the south of Lithuania in Druskininkai, has been seized, reports EurAsia Daily
“We have never been warned beforehand, we have not received any letters that the accounts have been arrested, we have learnt only after trying to carry out transfers”, – said the director of the sanatorium, Ilya Epifanov.
The sanatorium belongs to the Department of Presidential Affairs of Belarus. Its accounts were opened in the Swedish bank Swedbank. According to Epifanov, the accounts were seized because of the sanctions against Belarus, which came into force.
“We specifically visited the EU page listing the companies subject to sanctions. There is not a word about the sanatorium in Druskininkai. Nevertheless, we cannot use the company’s money, although for the absolute majority of its employees it is the only source of income”, – said Epifanov.
