More than 1,000 troops have been dispatched to the county of Kent, where tensions remain over France’s decision to close its border with the UK
As previously reported by News Front, a strict quarantine has been imposed in the United Kingdom due to the spread of a new strain of coronavirus. France decided to close its border with Britain which caused several kilometres of traffic jams on the M20 motorway leading to the Eurotunnel.
Thousands of drivers are stuck in Britain due to French government restrictions. Trucks paralysing traffic on the road have been sent to Manston airport. There, drivers are waiting to be tested for the coronavirus, as a negative test is a French condition for crossing the border.
According to The Guardian, the British authorities have redeployed 800 military personnel to the county of Kent. This brings the number of soldiers in the region to more than a thousand. The troops are being deployed to help calm the situation. Seven trains with food for the drivers have also arrived here. The military have helped distribute provisions.
