Maia Sandu took office as President of Moldova

During the inauguration ceremony, Maia Sandu took the oath and took office as President of Moldova.

In the presence of MPs, members of the Constitutional Court and foreign diplomats, Sandu took the oath of office on the Constitution.

“I have big plans, but I will not be able to realize them alone. I need your support. […] I understand that expectations are high”, – Sandu said in her speech.

She also spoke in favor of holding early parliamentary elections without forming an interim government after the resignation of the cabinet of Ion Chicu.

According to her electoral program, Sandu chose the “European path of development”. Time will tell what consequences such a “European course” will have for the republic. Also earlier, Maia Sandu announced that she would make her first official foreign visit as President of Moldova to Kiev.
