The current President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, addressed in absentia to the elected head of state, Maya Sandu, who will officially take office on December 24.
“The president should be a mediator between political forces and take responsibility for a complex dialogue between different political parties”, – Dodon said.
According to him, the head of state should be a statesman, not an ordinary politician – political interests should be left aside, as well as be closer to ordinary people.
“The president should be balanced in relations with external partners. No need to look for enemies. There is no need to involve Moldova, our people in the geopolitical struggle between the powers that be – Russia, the EU, the United States, and so on. The interests of Moldova should be at the head, and our interests are to have good relations with everyone”, – Dodon said.
According to the current head of state, the president should be the president of the majority of citizens.
“Do not try to confront different categories of citizens, different ethnic groups, because this will lead to a difficult situation in society”, – Dodon added.
