Saakashvili about to “go for revolution” in Georgia

A pandemic, increased coronavirus morbidity and mortality rates, quarantine and stalled economy, winter, dire social background and poverty are the reality that is bound to awaken protest sentiments among the Georgian population, Dalma News predicts

Against this backdrop, it is possible that the opposition will try once again to take advantage of the situation and go for a revolution in the spring.

These are the plans of the part of the Georgian opposition, which, having passed the one percent barrier in the October 2020 parliamentary elections, refuses to accept the parliamentary mandates. The opposition accuses the government of electoral fraud and issues an ultimatum to the ruling party – “early elections or a revolution”!

If so far the Georgian opposition was attracted by “colour revolutions”, now they are promising a “peaceful” one. Whether the revolution’s outcome will be peaceful, will probably become clear after the ouster of the ruling Georgian Dream party and the main target of the opposition, oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili. The oppositionists have chosen spring as the winter will be hard for several reasons. The opposition is confident that the citizens outraged by social problems will join the protest of the parties, among which the United National Movement (UNM) led by Mikhail Saakashvili’s party. They also expect to convince as many people as possible by then that the only thing that makes sense is a revolution and a coup because the “recent elections were stolen” from them.
