EU rejects UK’s latest withdrawal offer on fisheries

The European Union has rejected the UK’s latest concessions on fisheries, Bloomberg News reported, citing two officials

The European Union has rejected Britain’s latest concessions on fisheries, damaging efforts to secure a post-Brexit trade deal, two officials said.

On Monday, the UK made a proposal that would cut the cost of fish the EU catches in British waters by 30%, according to people familiar with the discussions. Last week, the UK insisted that the EU would accept a 60% cut, but the bloc refused to accept a cut of more than 25%.

With just nine days to go before the UK leaves the bloc’s single market and Customs Union with or without an agreement, there is little indication that a deal is within reach.
