Cuba’s Foreign Ministry says new US sanctions discredit its foreign policy

Washington has imposed sanctions on three entities that are “controlled by the Cuban military and play a strategic role in the Cuban economy”

The new tightening of sanctions on Cuba by the United States only adds to Washington’s isolation and discredits its foreign policy. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said on Monday.

“Cuba will go ahead no matter how many organisations they include on their false lists. Every US action in foreign policy reinforces their isolation and discredit at the international level, to which [US President Donald] Trump and his team have led the country,” the diplomat wrote on Twitter.

On Monday, US authorities imposed sanctions against three entities that, according to Washington, “are controlled by Cuban military personnel and play a strategic role in the Cuban economy”. Two of them are based in Panama. Inclusion on the sanctions list means freezing assets in the USA and prohibiting US citizens or companies from doing business with the listed entities, who are also banned from entering the country.
