China’s Ministry of Commerce says Washington is pressuring foreign companies under the pretext of national security
The U.S. government is using national security as a pretext to put pressure on foreign companies. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce said in a statement released on Tuesday.
“The US is again using state power under the pretext of ensuring national security to put pressure on foreign enterprises, including Chinese ones. This is a gross violation of the principles of fair competition and international trade”, – the document said.
“The Chinese side strongly protests against the US actions and will take all necessary actions to protect the legitimate interests of Chinese enterprises”, – the office said.
The United States on Monday published a list of Russian and Chinese companies and organisations hit by a de facto ban on the purchase of certain types of US goods and technologies subject to export controls. The Russian part of the document contains 45 names (in fact, due to repetitions, 41 structures are concerned) and the Chinese part contains 58. From the point of view of the American authorities, these are legal entities that are “military end-users”.
From the Chinese part of the list, eight enterprises of the Aero Engine Corporation of China (AECC), seven enterprises of the Aviation Industry Corp of China (AVIC), the Second Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Space Engine Production Plant of the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), a subsidiary of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) and other entities are sanctioned.
