Acting US President Donald Trump has signed a resolution extending the federal government’s funding for another 24 hours, up to and including December 21
This was reported by the White House press office.
“On Sunday, December 20, 2020, the President signed […] a resolution that provides appropriations for fiscal year 2021 (which began in the country on October 1 – note) to federal agencies until […] December 21, 2020,” the White House said in a statement.
Earlier on Sunday, the US Congress, following the House of Representatives, approved an initiative to extend the funding for the federal government by one more day – until December 21.
If the US government fails to approve another resolution, it threatens a new government shutdown. The last time this happened was on 22 December 2018, when civil servants were put on forced leave for a record 35 days.
